Marc Marquez returns to talismanic Austin

Repsol Honda rider has won from pole on each of his two visits to Austin -the 2013 triumph was his first win in MotoGP-

The Repsol Honda team have good memories of the two Grands Prix of The Americas held to date. On their two visits to the circuit, Marc Marquez has finished in first place, both years in qualifying and the race. In 2013, the win for Marquez was the first for the now two-time MotoGP World Champion. This time around his teammate will be Hiroshi Aoyama, standing in whilst Dani Pedrosa recovers from an operation on his right forearm.

Marc holds all records at the Circuit of The Americas, with the fastest race lap and pole record (2:02.773), circuit record (2:03.575) and top speed (341.6km/h).

Marc Marquez:
“I’m really looking froward to getting to Austin and putting Qatar behind us. The Circuit of The Americas is one of my favourite circuits and I have good memories of taking my first win in the MotoGP class, back in 2013, and also winning there last year. We need to work hard from FP1 and then keep this momentum for the whole weekend and have a ‘normal’ race. I’m really sorry for Dani, myself and the whole team wish him a speedy recovery. We welcome Hiroshi to the team and will help him how we can!”
